Many Nigerians suffer and die early because they lack awareness of their medical conditions. Even when they do, they vehemently reject  the truth and refuse to get medical help. My boss shared the story of how the father of a friend of his, lost his leg due  to ignorance and foolishness. According to him, she complained to him that her father's leg kept swelling up for  over a long time. The man also developed foot ulcer. My boss(a Medical Laboratory Scientist),  suspected the old man had diabetic foot ulcer and encouraged the family to go to hospital and seek medical help.
