LADIES BEYOND THE KITCHEN AND THE BEDROOM

My ladies, please hear me. Your life doesn't end at graduating, getting married and having babies. We can do more. Our male counterparts graduate, strive to develop themselves before they begin to think about getting married. Marriage is a good; a great thing in fact, but it shouldn't be our only focus and end as ladies. You talk to a graduating female about her plans and she goes "After graduation, I want to get married, have two or three kids and other things may follow after then". What happens to you? What happens to making yourself relevant before becoming someone's liability? Is marriage the end of your life? See your life is beyond getting married and having children. You need to begin to think about what you can do for yourself, your family and the society. There are enough kids out there already. Before you add one more, think about what you have done for yourself as a woman and for your society. Those business in your head,  those passions you have...

WELCOME TO 2017!!!

This time last year, I was too ill to talk to anyone; too weak to handle my mobile and put up a post. My brother, mum and sister were worried sick. They didn't like the thought of me entering the new year with any form of ailment. I couldn't help it.  Eventually, I did enter the new year sick (although I pretended to be well) and remained so until about three days into 2016. I went for the crossover service at my home church in Kano state and ended up sleeping throughout the service. I only woke up when it was time for the final prayers and the usual Happy New Year' shouts at exactly 12am. This year is different. I couldn't make it to any church for the crossover service (blame my village) but I'm strong and healthy. I'm online and active. My brain is working fine. I'm thankful for this and many more. 2016 was great for me. I count my blessings alot and I often name them. My family is strong, healthy and happy. Sis and I graduated from the Univers...

The Prayer House or the Hospital?

Many Nigerians suffer and die early because they lack awareness of their medical conditions. Even when they do, they vehemently reject  the truth and refuse to get medical help. My boss shared the story of how the father of a friend of his, lost his leg due  to ignorance and foolishness. According to him, she complained to him that her father's leg kept swelling up for  over a long time. The man also developed foot ulcer. My boss(a Medical Laboratory Scientist),  suspected the old man had diabetic foot ulcer and encouraged the family to go to hospital and seek medical help. Instead of heeding to his professional advice, the family concluded their father had been inflicted with a disease (called achi eri in Igbo..pardon my spelling please) by wicked kinsmen so they resorted to prayer houses for nearly a year. During that period, the ulcer  kept spreading until the entire foot became infected and now had an unbearable stench, it was at this point that they...

BARBARIC: 7year old Nigerian boy beaten and burnt to death (Photos)

What seemed like a peaceful Wednesday morning for many Lagosians suddenly turned into a bloody and barbaric one as an angry mob lynched on a 7year old boy after beating him mercilessly. The little boy was alleged to have broken into a store to steal Garri, while some said he tried stealing a mobile phone from a young lady but unluckily for the lad, an alarm was raised and some angry men descended on him and meted out the barbaric act. This is happening in a nation where  leaders and many government officials  steal billions in broad day light and are applauded. This goes to say the mind of many citizens are twisted. They can no longer distinguish a child from an adult and discern poverty from robbery. It is indeed a pity. What a country!!  May God rest his soul!

HAS THE HEADIES AWARD 2016 NOMINATION LIST BEEN REVIEWED?

The organisers of Headies award despite much criticism since the release of the nomination list for 2016 have refused to  review the list.   Fans of some popular artistes and even the artistes themselves complained bitterly that they were wrongly nominated in categories that belittled their musical prowess and success.  The organisers of the award event have however explained to the irate fans and artistes the reasons behind those nominations.
